I've always been drawn to the jumble of rocks which carpet the slopes beneath the Devil's Kitchen in Cwm Idwal. Some of the boulders are as big as a small house and they make a wonderful subject for a drawing. The biggest drawback is there's nowhere opposite the slope to get a true perspective of the the size and magnitude of this scree. Penyrolewen is the nearest and that is quite some distance. The artist therefore has to struggle with a forshortened view, Quite frustrating
